Downsizing becomes an increasing burden as we get older. Memories are connected to everything we own, whether it be a trophy from a high school baseball game or boxes filled with old photographs. We just can’t seem to get rid of the possessions, even if they’re locked in storage and haven’t seen the light of day in years.
Jerry and Sheila Berkelhammer found it difficult at first to go through their house after making the decision to move to Stonebridge at Montgomery. “We learned that selling our house and getting rid of possessions is hard. The older you are the more difficult it will be,” they shared. Thankfully, we’re able to provide senior downsizing services to make the transition as smooth as possible.
At Stonebridge, we offer the Move Ahead program to make moving and downsizing easier. We understand the difficulties of this transition and are here to assist with insights from our personal experiences. Services include staging your old home, making preparations for you to move into your new one and even helping cover some costs associated with the move.
Our team helps simplify the moving process and gives you peace of mind that what you need will be taken care of. With our downsizing tips for seniors, you’re set to experience a pain-free move into your new home.
Within the Move Ahead program, we’re also able to connect you with the people you need in order to have a successful move. One example of this is shown in our partnership with Wayforth, the nation’s largest downsizing, and senior transition company. To give you a taste of their services, here are some downsizing tips for seniors they provide, taken from their Downsizing Checklist:
These are just a few of the many helpful hints you’ll receive through our downsizing process. You’ll find that we have the experts available to answer any questions you may have.
Along with these tips, learn more about downsizing for retirement at our event, “Discover How to Move to a CCRC,” featuring special guest Craig Shealy on April 24th at Stonebridge at Montgomery. Craig is a co-founder of Wayforth and current CEO, and his informative presentation will help you learn how to let go of all of the stuff in your life. A panel will feature residents who made their move to Stonebridge, and a delicious chef-prepared lunch will follow.
If you aren’t able to make it on April 24th, remember that we’re always here to help. Feel free to contact us, and we’ll make sure your downsizing needs are taken care of.
