Things to Do in Montgomery Township to Get You in the Holiday Spirit

Senior celebrating the holidays in Montgomery Township by reading a seasonal book.

While this year has brought its challenges, there are certainly matters to celebrate — and the holiday season is the perfect time to focus on the joy, health and happiness in our lives. Even though social distancing may be the norm, there are ways for you to take part in the holiday spirit and celebrate safely. At Stonebridge at Montgomery, we’ve pulled together a list of some of the ways you are able to enjoy the holidays in Montgomery Township.

Activities to Help You Enjoy the Holidays

Read a Seasonal Book. There’s nothing quite like curling up with a warm beverage and a good book — especially during the holiday season where the air is chilled and snow is falling. Get into the holiday spirit by choosing a seasonal book to read. To get ideas of the next book to dive into, check out the Goodreads Seasonal Book Lists which include categories like “Favorite Christmas Books” and “Winter Reads.”

Decorate Your Home. Bring the spirit of the season to your home with holiday décor. Put on festive music and decorate your home with wreaths, garlands, figurines and more. And, if you’re particularly crafty, make a few new decorations to put up in your home this year.

Shop Locally for Gifts. Support local businesses when shopping for gifts for friends, family and loved ones. Palmer Square in Princeton offers one-of-a-kind boutiques as well as brand name shops, so you’ll have your choice of a wide variety of shopping options.

Enjoy a Virtual Concert. This year, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra will virtually host the annual Holiday POPS! musical showcase. This showcase will feature seasonal favorites performed by pianists Christina and Michelle Naughton, dancers of the American Repertory Ballet, the Princeton High School Choir, and Princeton Symphony Orchestra musicians under the direction of Rossen Milanov.

Take a Drive to View Holiday Lights. You’ve probably noticed neighbors in your community working hard decorating homes for the holidays. Turn your favorite seasonal radio station on, grab a coffee or hot chocolate and take a drive around the Montgomery Township community to admire the displays.

Organize a Community Gift Exchange. Just because you aren’t able to see friends and family as often as you used to, you can still connect to your local community by organizing a holiday gift exchange. Get a group of people together, draw names and find a gift exchange partner to secretly send a thoughtful gift to. This is a fun way to still connect to others while participating in a traditional holiday practice.
