Healthy Eating Tips
Eat a Variety of Nutritious Foods Every Day: Eating a wide variety of healthy foods is essential to your body’s function and also helps prevent chronic disease. Eat your share of fruits, vegetables, grains, protein and dairy every day.
Plan Your Meals Each Week: When you go to the grocery store, do you tend to wander and grab food out of convenience? When this happens, we usually don’t consider the nutritional value of the things we add to our cart. By planning nutritious meals in advance, you know exactly what to add to your list with healthful recipes and foods in mind.
Learn Skills to Create Tasty Meals: Taking a cooking class isn’t necessarily your only option when it comes to expanding your cooking abilities, although it would be an exciting experience if you’re able to go. Start by going to the library for cooking books or doing online research and finding a few key cooking techniques that can help you create a variety of meals. By preparing your own meals, you’re giving yourself the power to include healthful ingredients and understand exactly what is going into every dish you make.
Consult a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN): Ask your healthcare provider for a referral to an RDN. RDNs are licensed medical professionals offering personalized nutrition advice that suits your lifestyle and needs. In these discussions, you’ll discover how to thrive through the transformative power of food and nutrition.
